Competition

Rules for Classical Guitar Competition:

 

Participation fee is 30 Euro

Active and passive participants do not pay competition fee.

It is possible to participate only in the competition without active or passive participation.

There is no age limit to participate in the competition.

The competition has three stages : Preliminary round, Semi-final and Final Round

Pieces played in the preliminary round may be repeated in the semi-final round.

– Final program must be different than preliminary round and semi-final.

The winners of the first prize in the past years cannot participate in the competition.

Preliminary Round (Online): Competitors will send their mp4 videos by “We Transfer” (https://www.wetransfer.com) as a message to the following address: (competition@istanbulguitarfestival.com) and write after they have paid participation fee (active, passive or competition fee). The maximum duration of the videos should be 10 minutes and the videos should be shot with a single camera without any editing. Winners will be selected only from the performance videos. Latest participation date is May 05, 2019. Videos sent after this date will not be considered. Semi-finalists will be announced on May 10, 2019. (It is necessary to specify “Classical Guitar” in the description of video)

Semi-final Round: It will take place at Maltepe University in Istanbul on May 21,2019. Ten (10) competitors with the highest score in the preliminary round will be admitted to the semi-final round and will play a free choice of program which doesn’t exceed 10 minutes. Semi-final is not open public.

Final Round: It will take place at Maltepe University in Istanbul on May 22, 2019. Five (5) competitors with the highest score in the semi-final round will be admitted to the final round and will give a recital not exceeding 20 minutes. (it’s obligated to include one piece by Leo Brouwer). These performances will be open public.

Prizes

First Place: Opportunity of solo recital in the next edition of the Istanbul Guitar Festival + A concert in Sarajevo in 2020 + Free active participation in International Sarajevo Guitar Festival in 2020 + A handmade guitar + Cup and Diploma + Free active participation in the International Istanbul Guitar Festival in 2020.

Second Place: A handmade guitar + Cup and Diploma + Free passive participation in the International Istanbul guitar festival 2020

Third Place: A handmade guitar + Cup and Diploma

Leo Brouwer Special Award: Best performance of Brouwer piece in the final round, diploma signed by Leo Brouwer himself will be given + A handmade guitar

The value of the guitars are between 2000 Euros to 5000 Euros.

Rules for Flamenco Guitar Competition:

 

Participation fee is 30 Euro.

Active and passive participants do not pay competition fee.

It is possible to participate only in the competition without active or passive participation.

-There is no age limit to participate in the competition.

-The pieces of the first round CAN be repeated in the final round.

-The competition has two stages : Preliminary Round and Final Round.

– The winners of the first prize in the past years cannot participate in the competition.

Preliminary Round (Online): Free of choice competitors will send their mp4 videos by the “We Transfer” (https://www.wetransfer.com) as a message to the following address: (competition@istanbulguitarfestival.com) after they have paid participation fee (Active, Passive or Competition fee). The maximum duration of the videos should be 6 minutes and  videos should be shot with a single camera without any editing. Winners will be selected only from the performance videos. Latest participation date is May 05, 2019. Videos sent after this date will not be considered. Finalists will be announced on May 10, 2019. (It is necessary to specify “Flamenco Guitar” in the description of video). 6 (Six) finalists will be chosen for the final round.

Final round (max 15 minutes): It will take place at Maltepe University in Istanbul on May 21, 2019 – 3 pieces will be performed in final round.

1)A piece in free style (Taranta, Rondeña, Granaina, Minera etc.)

2)A piece in Bulerias form.

3)Free of choice (Preferably a rhythmic style such as Alegrias, Solea, Fandangos, Tangos, Farruca, Guajira, Garotin etc.)
